A free bottle of gas will be available till September

Amid the Corona crisis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has extended plans to provide free cooking gas cylinders to the country’s poorest families for another three months. Now more than 70 million women from poor families in the country will continue to get free gas cylinders till the end of September. The government has done so by imposing a lockdown in the country due to corona virus infection. Poor families have suffered greatly in the lockdown.

How to apply?

Only one woman from a BPL family can apply for an LPG connection under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala scheme.

For this he has to fill the application form in the given format and submit it to the nearest LPG distributor.

Along with the application form, the woman has to provide her full address, Jan Dhan Bank account and Aadhaar number of all family members.

After processing this application, the oil marketing companies of the country issue LPG connection to the eligible beneficiary.

If the customer chooses EMI, the amount of EMI is adjusted against the subsidy on the cylinder.

The Modi government has announced to provide three cylinders free of cost to 74 million women who take gas cylinders under the Ujjawala scheme. It is not necessary that everyone needs a cylinder every month. Thus, the facility of giving three cylinders free by the end of September has now been increased to one cylinder per month. Under the scheme, the cost of three months and free cylinder will be Rs 13,500 crore.

It may be noted that the government had announced to provide three cylinders free of cost to the beneficiaries of the scheme from April to June in view of the Koro crisis and lockdown. Under the Ujjawala scheme, women from poor families of the country have been allotted free gas connections
